Mr. Adcocks, the crane operator, was able to lift the container and set it onto its concrete piers, even with the power pole in the yard where it had always been. He was an artist, deftly maneuvering his 84,000-pound* piece of machinery into our front yard between the pole and the container in such a way that he could rotate with ease.

The power line from the pole to our old house had to be removed before the crane work, and then reconnected after the container was in place. But eventually the pole itself would need to be moved to a permanent spot where it could power the container house while continuing to feed the old house.
The caravan of trucks from Magnolia Electric Power arrived one morning in mid-December and took care of things in no time. And that was the last of the business with the power pole.
